Peeyush Gupta AM

Profile

Peeyush Gupta AM is a Non-Executive Director of SBS, Northern Territory Aboriginal Investment Corporation, Quintessence Labs, Dexus, NSW Cancer Council and Liberty Financial Group.

Peeyush was the co-founder and inaugural CEO of IPAC Securities. He was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to business and the community through governance and philanthropic roles.

Peeyush joined the Board in February 2024 and is a Member of the Audit Committee and Investment Committee.

Premjith Cheruvath

Profile

Premjith is Research Manager at The George Institute for Global Health, UK. He looks after the administrative matters of funding applications and funded projects.

Professor Michael Kidd AO

Profile

Professor Michael Kidd AO is an Australian academic, primary care researcher, educator and clinician. He has a joint appointment as the inaugural Director of the International Centre for Future Health Systems at the University of New South Wales, and as Professor of Global Primary Care and Future Health Systems with the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.

Michael also served as the Australia Government’s Deputy Chief Medical Officer during COVID-19. He is a Non-Executive Director of Telstra Health and Therapeutic Guidelines. He is also the Chair of the Therapeutic Guidelines Foundation.

Michael joined the Board in December 2023 and is a Member of the People Committee.

Dr Purnima Rao Jevaji

Profile

Purnima is a public health specialist and holds an experience of over twelve years in the sector. She has extensive experience in working with policymakers, various international and national partners, multi-state geographies, and environment collaborative projects to strengthen the implementation of various public health programs.

Dr Rao holds a Master’s in hospital administration with a bachelor’s in Dentistry and has worked with various development organizations like PHFI and UNICEF. She is certified in scientific writing from Stanford University, United Kingdom.  She has liaisoned with the various state governments regarding project implementation activities and conducted wide-ranging studies with study centres and locations across India.

At The George Institute India, she is a GCP trainer in charge of the program and manages the clinical trials operations of PACE, Testing on. She is working on quality monitoring clinical drug trials on chronic kidney disease and COVID-19. Now she is also part of the team to develop modules for online clinical trial courses. Her role aligns with capturing and understanding the requirements for the stressors and barriers to accessing psychosocial well-being that are crucial in the deployment and sustainability of the finalised intervention(s). Earlier she worked on NCD projects on urban health and gestational diabetes within The Institute. 

 

Abhinav Bassi

Profile

Abhinav Bassi is a physiotherapist trained in public health, currently working as a Senior Research Fellow and Operations Lead at the George Institute for Global Health, India. He has a wealth of experience in epidemiological research, advocacy, and civil society network coordination. At present, Abhinav is leading a team of researchers responsible for designing and conducting pragmatic academic trials specifically in the areas of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and COVID-19. His other work at the George Institute includes developing and testing mobile-based decision support systems to prevent, screen, treat, and manage non-communicable diseases.

Mobile health interventions, automation in project management, and interactive dashboard development are some of his key interest areas. 

Associate Professor Adam Deane

Profile

Adam is an Intensivist who currently serves as Senior Staff Specialist, Head of Intensive Care Unit Research, and Deputy Director Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

He also holds a part-time Clinician Fellowship with the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and honorary positions as an Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne and University of Adelaide.

Aishwarya Nair

Profile

Aishwarya is a dental surgeon with training in public health. She completed her undergraduate training from Sudha Rustagi College of Dental Sciences and Research in Faridabad, India. She holds a master’s degree in public health and health promotion from Brunel University, United Kingdom. In addition, recently Aishwarya completed a course in Clinical Trial Fundamentals facilitated by Monash University, Australia

At the George Institute, Aishwarya is involved in the operationalisation and management of several clinical trials and academic randomised clinical trials in areas of renal disease, cardiovascular diseases, and COVID-19. Aishwarya works closely with the trial sponsors, regulatory authorities, ethics committees and clinical sites across India to conduct trials ethically and efficiently.

Dr Allison Humphries

Profile

Allison has been working in clinical research since 1992 and managing clinical trials since 2001, working in the fields of hypertension, preeclampsia, HIV, obesity and respiratory medicine. Allison has worked in hospital settings (St George Hospital, Sydney; Leicester Royal Infirmary, UK; Groote Schuur Hospital, RSA) and University/Medical Research Institutes (Kirby and The George Institute).

Since working at The George Institute, she has worked as a Senior Project Manager and Operational Lead in APO and now holds an academic position in the Respiratory Programme. Allison has managed project teams to deliver multiple clinical trials and research projects such as TASCS, ECOS, PACE in COPD and now the BREATHE CDSS.

Aman Rastogi

Profile

Aman Rastogi works at the George Institute for Global Health India as a Biostatistician. He has Postgraduate degrees from Lucknow University and Christian Medical College Vellore. Prior to joining the George Institute in 2023, Aman has worked at organisations including CARE India and John Snow India where his work involved quantitative research related to maternal and child health, family planning and vaccination. Aman has experience of developing database architectures, monitoring and evaluation plans and conducting epidemiologic studies. His current work involves helping with the design, analysis and statistical reporting for clinical trials and observational studies in chronic kidney disease and nutrition.

Amarnath Trivedi

Profile

Amarnath is a  public health researcher with a demonstrated history of working with UNICEF, ICMR, and CMC Vellore. He has expertise in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Dental Public Health.

Ana Alden

Profile

As Communications Manager, Ana is responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy for The George Institute for Global Health in partnership with Imperial College London in the UK.

She produces high-quality communications that support TGI's research, advocacy and development work both internally and externally, and that raise The George Institute profile through media and digital channels (notably via our UK website and Twitter). This includes the staging of successful events to further disseminate our research findings and underline implications for policy and practice.

Through building relationships with UK-led global health advocacy groups, and a range of academic, health and media stakeholders within the Institute and beyond, Ana supports the strategic objectives of the wider institute, which aim to improve the health of millions of people, particularly those living in disadvantaged circumstances.

Ana-Catarina Pinho-Gomes

Profile

Cat is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Public Health Medicine at the Institute of Health Informatics at UCL and specialty registrar (ST5) in London. She is also an Honorary Lecturer at King's College London and The George Institute for Global Health, UK, in partnership with Imperial College London. She is also an NIHR ARC NWL Improvement Leader Fellow in the 2023 cohort.

She completed medical school in Portugal in 2012 and moved to the UK inspired by her dream of working for the NHS. Although she initially started her specialty training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in Manchester, her long-term illness forced a sharp turn in her career. She completed her DPhil in the University of Oxford, simultaneously with an MSc in Public Health at King's College London. She started her specialty training in Public Health in August 2020 as NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow at King's College London.

She has an insatiable curiosity and broad research interests, which explains why she has been involved in many different types of research over the years. She has finally committed to her two passions: climate & air pollution and health and gender inequalities. She co-leads the implementation of the Climate & Health Strategy with the Climate & Health Committee of the Faculty of Public Health; is chair of the Specialty Registrars’ Committee, which represents registrars nationwide in the Faculty of Public Health; and co-chair of the Academic Public Health Special Interest Group, which she co-founded in 2022. In addition, she is committed to Public Health education and has been actively teaching in the MPH at King's College London and University College London since 2020. She is also leading the European course on climate & health organised by the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER), as she is member of the working group on climate and health.
