Consumer Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) risk management eHealth portal development and testing

This project will see the development and evaluation of a consumer internet portal that will allow interactive and electronic exchange of information and resources between patients and their local doctor.

The study will show if a consumer portal is both effective and user-friendly. Ultimately, the system will be a pilot for other chronic diseases and will extend knowledge and understanding of how we can develop systems that are effective, interactive and consumer-focused. Specific aims are to develop an integrated patient-controlled module to facilitate communication of risk, explain treatment effects, provide access to evidence-based information to consumers and to facilitate uptake of an appropriate management journey.

The study follows a mixed methods approach involving user-centred design (workshops, diary studies and interviews with consumers and experts) and pilot testing for accuracy, usability and clinical outcomes.
