Response to P1066 – Review of young child formula
The George Institute for Global Health has responded to Food Standards Australia New Zealand's review of young child formula (Proposal P1066), supporting stronger regulations to improve the composition, safety and labelling of these products. In its submission, the Institute backs measures including limits on added sugars, microbiological safety standards, and restrictions on health claims, stage labelling and marketing practices that may mislead parents and caregivers. The submission also calls for stronger safeguards to ensure young child formula is clearly differentiated from infant formula and is not promoted as necessary for healthy child development.
