Together against stigma conference 2026
The George Institute for Global Health is organising the Together Against Stigma (TAS) Conference in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and UNICEF India with the support of World Psychiatric Association (WPA) and World Association for Social Psychiatry (WASP).
For the first time, TAS is being organised in a low- and middle-income country. In India and similar settings, mental health care is often constrained by limited resources, a shortage of trained professionals, and persistent stigma and discrimination.
By bringing together leading experts, researchers, practitioners, and advocates, TAS 2026 aims to directly address these challenges, strengthen dialogue, improve help-seeking behaviour, and support better access to mental health care for those who need it most.
This marks the first time the conference is being hosted in a low- and middle-income country, positioning it as a significant milestone for global mental health engagement.
TAS 2026 will strengthen the connection between scientific insight and real-world implementation through public-private ownership, helping translate what works into action at international, national, and local levels to promote safe, inclusive, and equitable societies.
Expected outcomes
Opportunity to learn from leading global stigma researchers, enabling the implementation of effective anti-stigma programmes and strengthening mental healthcare delivery.
Enhancing global awareness of mental health stigma and discrimination through expert-led discussions and real-world case studies, while driving measurable progress in stigma reduction within India.
About TAS Conferences
The Together Against Stigma (TAS) Conferences are designed to foster multidisciplinary action on mental health stigma by breaking silos between disciplines and driving efforts from theory into practice.
To date, TAS has hosted ten international conferences, with an average participation of around 400 delegates annually. It serves as a global platform for sharing the latest scientific knowledge and practical experiences from researchers, practitioners, and advocates working to reduce stigma, prevent discrimination, and support affected individuals and communities.
Abstract submissions for the event are now open, with a submission deadline of 15 June 2026. We encourage all interested participants to submit their abstracts.
Please note that we will continue updating this page with additional details as we move closer to the event date. Stay tuned for further updates!
