Louise Cooper is the program manager for the Medical Science Sex and Gender Equity (MESSAGE) project at The George Institute for Global Health, Imperial College London. The MESSAGE project will co-develop best practice recommendations and a sex and gender policy framework for funders and regulators to improve sex and gender specific health outcomes in the UK.

She has an MRes in Public Health from the University of Manchester. Her research uses systematic reviewing to revisit and evaluate existing diabetes diagnosis protocols and interventions through a sex lens and the design of sex stratified interventions. Her long-term aim is to develop a sex specific approach to metabolic disease that addresses the significantly poorer outcomes in women.

Previously, Louise worked as an Assistant Headteacher and Special Needs Coordinator in a range of settings, culminating in a whole school project to reduce barriers to learning for all children through effective screening, developmental monitoring, and pedagogical changes to the practice of teaching and support staff
