Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses of Randomized Clinical Trials (SRMA) training course

Course overview

Systematic reviews and meta-analyses are central to evidence-based decision-making in health research and policy. This intensive 3-day face-to-face training course delivered by The George Institute for Global Health is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to plan, conduct, critically appraise and report high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials. Through a combination of expert-led teaching and hands-on learning activities, participants will learn the key stages of the systematic review process and develop the confidence to apply these methods in their own research and professional practice.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to design and conduct a systematic review with meta-analysis, critically appraise published reviews and apply best practices in reporting and dissemination.

Course facilitators

Rashmi Pant

Senior Research Fellow (Biostatistician)

Rashmi Pant is a public health professional with 15 years of experience in training and research. She holds a PhD in Mathematical Statistics from Lucknow University, India. She has worked with several interdisciplinary research teams and published in the areas of communicable diseases (HIV and TB modelling) and cardiovascular risk. Currently, she is a Senior Research Fellow with the Data Science and Biostatistics Division at The George Institute for Global Health. She has been a Wellcome Trust Visiting Research Fellow in UK, a Fogarty International visiting fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine and an invited faculty for Epidemiology in Global Public Health at the University of Maastricht. She was the recipient of several grants, including a Department of Science and Technology (India) Big Data for Epidemic modelling grant in 2019 and a DBT- Global Stars One Health collaborative research grant in 2020. Her current interests include network meta-analysis and individual patient data meta-analyses.

Md Abdul Salam

Program Head, Cardiovascular Research

Abdul Salam is a clinical and public health researcher interested in cardiovascular disease prevention. He is particularly interested in developing, evaluating, and implementing novel low-cost pharmacological interventions. He has experience in clinical trials, systematic reviews and qualitative health research. Abdul Salam has a Master of Pharmacy (Pharmacology) from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, India, and a PhD in Medicine from The University of Sydney, Australia.
