Dr Anita Gadgil is a senior surgeon, researcher, and global health expert with over 30 years of experience in surgery. A former Professor and Head of General Surgery at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Gadgil has extensive experience in surgical education, cancer prevention and early detection and strengthening healthcare delivery in resource-limited settings. She is Co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Emergency, Critical and Operative Care at The George Institute for Global Health, India, and is affiliated with the Department of Preventive Oncology and Public Health, Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Assam. She has led and collaborated on several national and international initiatives with WHO, IARC, Karolinska Institutet, Harvard University, NTNU Norway, and ICMR, contributing to advancing equitable access to quality surgical and cancer care in India and globally.
