Gabi, a Peruvian Medical Doctor and Global Health postgraduate, joined The George Institute for Global Health in April 2023. She supported the development and implementation of the Planetary Health Research Strategy, aligned with the Healthier Societies 2023 Fiscal Year Goal. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive, long-term research program, leveraging the Institute's unique expertise to address the most pressing health challenges associated with environmental change.

Dr. Gabi previously served as Medical Chief Officer for the Peruvian Ministry of Health in rural Peru, where she focused on primary healthcare and provided compassionate and dignified medical treatment. During her medical studies, she volunteered with the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations for over five years, including two years on the Executive Board as Treasurer. She worked extensively in sexual and reproductive health, meaningful youth engagement, and global health, conducting workshops, projects, and peer education with international medical students.

Dr. Gabi completed her MSc in Health and International Development and is currently contributing to the Women's Health Programme in the Heat in Pregnancy Project in India. This project investigates the association between extreme heat and adverse pregnancy outcomes and aims to elucidate the mechanistic pathways linking the two. Dr. Gabi holds a BSc in Human Medicine from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia.
