The George Institute is made up of several research & development themes, divisions and programs that oversee numerous large-scale international and regional projects funded by a diverse range of sponsors, both public and private. It includes an enterprise, George Clinical which is the clinical research delivery arm of The George Institute, which manages phase II to phase IV clinical studies for commercial entities and for medical research organisations. George Clinical’s operations in India are mainly based in Bangalore with some staff in Hyderabad.
A number of large-scale projects in population, health systems and clinical research, funded by a diverse group of sponsors, both public and private, are conducted in India. The George Institute India comprises four distinct operating groups: Research and Development, Infrastructure and Resources, Communications and Development. It has offices in Hyderabad, where most of the research staff are based, and New Delhi where the senior management and other staff are based.

Context and Role
The research and development division requires research assistant to work on a number of systematic reivews in the area of blood pressure and cholesteroal lowering, at the discretion of the project lead. This role is designed for individuals who can assist the project lead in conducting systematic reviews in the aforementioned and other relevant areas.
Reporting Relationships
The research assistant will report to the project lead.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Develop literature search strategies
- Perform systematic search of electronic literature databases
- Review literature to assess relevance, quality and extract data
- Perfrom meta-analsysis using CMA or Review Manager or similar applications
- Assist in writing reports and publication manuscripts
- Provide a consistent level of contribution to the research activities of the division
- Ensure that research being conducted is congruent with world best practice.
- Remain abreast of developments in the related Division that are relevant to the study and the Institute; providing a source of information to colleagues within the Institute
- Actively develop and promote the desired culture of The George Institute by ensuring all interactions, documentation and communication are conducted in a manner which supports the stated mission

- Comply with OH&S legislation and operate in accordance with established OH&S practice and procedures at the George Institute

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Masters degree in public health/ epidemiology/clinical research/biostatistics or any other relevant area.
- Intermediate level of experiece in doing systematic reviews.
- Strong focus on quality and timely delivery of work.
- Well organized with good time management skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of proficiency in English.
- Ability to work well and flexibly
- Attention to detail, whilst maintaining a focus on the big picture.
