Epidemiologist and statistician

Misghina Weldegiorgis is a post-doctoral epidemiologist and statistician at The George Institute for Global Health at the University of Oxford, and conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales Sydney.

His current research focuses primarily on understanding social and clinical risk factors associated with chronic kidney diseases. His role includes performing systematic review and meta-analysis as well as analyzing ‘Big Data’ – English primary care dataset (CPRD) using various statistical techniques such as multivariate analysis, longitudinal data analysis, and survival analysis. Additionally, he is involved in co-organizing the George Institute for Global Health UK Seminars. 

Misghina completed his PhD in ‘Evaluation of renal endpoints in nephrology trials’ from the University of Groningen, where his doctoral work focused on methodological aspects surrounding the efficacy of a variety of endpoints in nephrology clinical trials. He has experience in analyzing and interpreting a large number of clinical trial and clinical practice databases, such as BENEDICT, RENAAL, IDNT, REIN, ROAD, ESBARI, STENO, PREVEND, and GIANTT. 

Prior to that, Misghina earned his BSc degree in pharmacy from the University of Asmara and MSc degree in pharmacoepidemiology from Utrecht University.
