A culturally-appropriate depression screening tool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples not only works, it should be rolled out across the country, according to a new study.

Social networks have been found to play a significant role in shaping behaviours to reduce salt intake in children as demonstrated by the research group led by Professor Yangfeng Wu, Honorary research fellow at The George Institute China and the Deputy Director of the Peking University Clinical Research Institute. The findings have been published on the British Medical Journal (BMJ).

Dr Sanne Peters, Research Fellow in Epidemiology at The George Institute for Global Health at the University of Oxford, has been awarded a spot on the World Heart Federation’s Salim Yusuf Emerging Leaders Programme alongside 24 other experts working to reduce early death from cardiovascular disease.
