Sr. Research Fellow/Research Fellow, Big Data
JOB TITLE: Sr. Research Fellow / Research Fellow, Big Data
LOCATION: New Delhi
REPORTING: Executive Director and Professor of Statistics and Epidemiology, University of Oxford
Position Overview
The George Institute for Global Health has years of experience in handling large research databases. Recently, across the world, routinely-collected health data, often called Big Data, have become available, typically from national health systems or health insurance databases. These have immense research potential, but are prone to bias error and involve a considerable amount of complex data manipulation, for example to deal with varying numbers of event records per individual.
We have had some successes with exploiting Big Data in the UK but now seek to recruit a Sr. Research Fellow / Research Fellow, with experience of statistical analysis and computing, to work on Big Data in India. An example is the Aarogyasri Community Health Insurance Scheme. The data offer opportunities for analysis, and there are several other large databases across India which we would like to access and analyse.
