The Role

The Senior Statistical Manager is required to develop and lead research at a national or international level, as team leader of the Biostatistics & Economic Evaluation. This research program will involve collaborations with people and organizations external to the GI at national and international levels.

It is also recognized that the Senior Statistical Manager is required to work on non-funded work such as providing advice for smaller projects which are either at the proposal stage or do not have budget for biostatistics, answering queries from colleagues and mentoring biostatistics staff.  For this the position allows one day a week to work on non-funded work.

To achieve this you will:

·         Develop/maintain national and international links to support the Program’s activities.

·         Provide leadership, advice and support in projects, and exercise autonomy in relation to techniques, methods and procedures to achieve desired outcomes.

·         Foster strategic research collaborations with other researchers on projects within The George Institute, and external to TGI if possible.

·         Independently manage all statistical aspects of research projects including sample size/power calculations, development of statistical analysis plans, program and validation of statistical analyses in SAS, reporting and interpretation of results

Your success will be based on a range of your key skills and experience:

·         Masters/ Doctoral qualifications in Statistics

·         Minimum 4-year experience as a statistician in medical research 

·         Excellent working knowledge of SAS software

·         Applied knowledge of advanced statistical models, such as generalized linear models, survival analyses and mixed models

·         Substantial experience of the conduct of epidemiological and/or clinical research

·         Advanced written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
