
Injury Epidemiologist

An opportunity exists for an Epidemiologist to join the Injury Division. This is an exciting opportunity for a person keen on developing a career in the field of public health, biostatistics and/or injury epidemiology. The role offers a prospect of working on a range of projects in collaboration with some of the world’s leading injury researchers, epidemiologists and academic partners.
Key responsibilities of the role will include:
• Prepare derived datasets for analyses with SAS
• Program and validate statistical analyses in SAS
• Perform complex statistical analyses
• Prepare and deliver interim and final reports
• Contribute to the interpretation and publication of research results, and contribute to preparation of or lead manuscripts
• Provide epidemiological and statistical support for other projects in the injury division
Desired Skills and Experience
Our ideal candidate will possess:
• Postgraduate (honours, masters or PhD) qualifications in Epidemiology or Biostatistics
• 2 years of experience analysing health or medical research data
• Excellent working knowledge of SAS software
• Understanding of data management principles in health and medical research, such as in clinical trials or linked administrative health data
• Experience in applying statistical models such as generalized linear models, survival analyses and mixed models
• Experience in working collaboratively in a team with researchers and/or other statisticians
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements in health (privacy and data governance)
• Well organized with good time management skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of proficiency in English
Desirable
• Experience or interest in developing a career in injury epidemiology
