Dr Leanne Hassett
Leanne Hassett is a postdoctoral research fellow within the Musculoskeletal division of The George Institute, and a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at The University of Sydney. Leanne has spent the past 15 years as a physiotherapist at the Liverpool Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit.
Her research focus is in physical activity in neurological populations, in particular in understanding the best way to prescribe exercise programs for people after traumatic brain injury.
Her work has included a cochrane review confirming fitness training after brain injury is a safe intervention to prescribe and a randomised controlled trial confirming that brain injury survivors can exercise at sufficient dosage for a fitness effect. Her work has also provided new knowledge in exercise testing and the first work on exercise adherence in this population.
