Professor Jamie Cooper
Professor Cooper is Director of the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre (ANZIC-RC), Monash University; Director, Centre of Research Excellence for Patient Blood Management in Critical Illness and Trauma (Blood-CRE), Monash University; Director, Critical Care Research, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM), Monash University; and Deputy Director and Head of Research in the Department of Intensive Care at The Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. He trained at medicine and intensive care in Adelaide followed by a research fellowship at University of British Columbia, Canada. He is a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Practitioner Fellow and full Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at Monash University. He has published more than 195 journal papers including 14 in New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) and American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has been a Principal or Co-investigator on peer reviewed research grants exceeding $44 million including 21 NHMRC grants. Research foci include randomised clinical trials in traumatic brain injury, sepsis, acute lung injury, resuscitation fluids, and blood transfusion.
